Taylor Lundquist

Summer 2019 SEED Artist-In-Residence

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

With Taylor's time during the SEED residency at nueBOX, she plans on starting a solo work for next season. She wants to create a piece that brings awareness to the seriousness and severity of suicide. It's not always an easy subject to discuss, so she's creating a spoken word piece to choreograph to. By the end of this residency, she hopes to have created a piece that truly makes an impact.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I've been dancing since I was 2.5 years old, I quite literally can't remember my life without dance. I am now 20 and in my sophomore year of college at PVCC. Over the last few years, I've been trying to get into new movement styles and ways of exploring dance as an art form. I've taken this last year to focus on the storytelling aspect and its made me fall in love with dance all over again. My family doesn't necessarily support me majoring in dance but I convinced them to allow me to minor in it. I would love to use this program to be able to have the time to focus on what I truly want to bring to the table and to find a way to convey the stories I want to tell the world through dance. I want to prove to myself that I can be the dancer I have always dreamed of being.
